Announcing CMSMS 1.6.3 – Touho

August 5th, 2009 by Ted Kulp

IMPORTANT
This release fixes a rather important security issue in the printing module as reported by a very helpful user. We recommend you upgrade to this version of CMSMS as soon as possible.

Additionally, a couple of minor errors relating to deactivating and re-activating content in the content list… and to using {cms_selflink} to point to inactive pages have been fixed.

Please upgrade ASAP.

Thanks!

How can i get notifications to upgrades? I believe I have put myself into the mailing list but never receive an email.. I also follow CMSMS on Twitter but didn’t see a twit about that?

I’m 2 days behind on the blog post… sorry about that. I did post it on twitter after it was released though. http://twitter.com/cmsms/status/3078896524

We’re in the process of fixing the mailing lists, so future releases should be announced there as well.

  3. Ronald Says:

    Is there a 1.6 to 1.6.3 package?

  4. bj Says:

hopefully since I didn’t get any mails about updates up to now …

    +1
I also need such a thing

    hi
the second update after 1.6.2 which makes problems…

    project 1:
1.6 to 1.6.2: i get an error like: Fatal error: Call to a member function GetURL() on a non-object in /var/www/html/web723/html/eagles/tmp/templates_c/%%6E^6E4^6E4E713C%%tpl_head%3A23.php on line 11 when accessing any childpage… problem still exists (even after update to 1.6.3)

    project 2:
1.6.2 to 1.6.3: Fatal error: Cannot redeclare class Printing in /var/www/html/web723/html/neu/modules/Printing/Printing.module.php on line 498

anyway, you should test your updates in a better way…
do you know a solution for me?

I cannot unzip the package. I am using 7zip which normally works fine. It errors that quite a large number of files cannot be extracted.

Have now tried on three different machines, all with the same result. The 1.6.2 version extracts fine.

Is there a problem with the package?

I upgraded a couple of sites from 1.5.4. to the current version without any glitches. The previous updates were much more troublesome as some 3rd party modules had to be disabled and uninstalled before an upgrade would work.

You guys are never going to learn are you? Have your software combed through by security professionals. Nearly every time I pop over to your site to check out progress, there’s some notice about yet another NEW security hole. CMS Made Simple is at least as bad as Wordpress.

I don’t work for these guys, but I know several open source projects that have used them.

I have to say I’m sorry to all those that have missed announcements and important news about the project. The email lists has unfortunately not been up and running for a while.
But from today we have switched to our own NewsletterMadeSimple and the first announcements goes out.
We have copied in the users from the old lists to NMS. Now its again possible to subscribe and unsubscribe to the newsletters about CMS Made Simple.

    Best wishes from Dev Team!

Hey Bob, who made you the teacher? How do you can trust them? Can you list the FOSS that have used them? I’d be interested to know. Would you like to donate some money to do a security audit? We’d all appreciate it. Maybe we should have a security incidence report section on the forums. I would be interested to actually know how many CMSMS’s security has actually been compromised in a production environment.

Bob – regular security patches and updates are not a bad thing. Sure beats projects where security holes are never fixed, or brushed under the carpet.
