CMS Made Simple 1.5 “Puerto Rico”
December 1st, 2008 by Ted KulpI’m very happy to announce the release of CMS Made Simple 1.5. Calguy and crew have done an amazing job keeping the CMSMS core chugging along and getting more stable and feature rich. Unless you’re totally locked into an older version, I recommend upgrading your site as soon as possible.
Some key points from the changelog:
- A new notification system in the admin
- A new dashboard page in the admin
- The ability to copy content pages has been added
- More bulk actions have been added to the list content page
- Numerous improvements to the installer
- Apply buttons on GCB’s and UDT’s
- TinyMCE changes: Updated to latest Tiny-core
- Extensive modifications were made to add a session key to each and every
URL in the admin console. This prevents a medium level cross site scripting
vulnerability - Much, much more
As always, check out the full changelog for details on what has changed.
For a concise description on upgrading, take a look here.
Downloads for 1.5 can be found here.
Thanks again to all the CMSMS team: devs, translators and testers alike. You all seriously rock and here’s to another fine release.

Is there a list of known, incompatible modules that will no longer work with 1.5?
Thanks for the continued hard work guys.

I encounter two bugs, thank god I tested a local version first.
When updating to a new version the following happens:
1. new module misses parameters “makersbutton” and “dateformat”. I deleted both in the template. Ok, no more errors. But I miss those parameters.
2. (a really bad error). Somehow the connection between template and css isn’t working any more. When opening the css on a seperature page like:
http://localhost/cms/stylesheet.php?cssid=48&mediatype=screen
I doesn’t include the CSS-Code, just some empty remark lines.
You should correct this.

Did the test. Can’t install because ‘Test for remote URL’ failed. Provider does not want to change settings for security reasons….
Any advise here?

It seems to have broken the Module Manager of existing sites too – I’m getting this on sites running 1.4.1 and earlier:
Although a connection was successfully made to the specified module repository. It appears that this repository is not yet sharing any modules.
Is this to do with the new session key?

Just upgraded a few sites and everything works fine.
Thank you very much

Thank you CMSms team for the continued hard work! I’ve upgraded a few web sites earlier today, with various different previous version (1.2.x, 1.4, etc.), and they went without any hiccups!

It seems something happened with the Module Manager – I’m running the 1.2.3 version and all of a sudden now I’m getting this : “Although a connection was successfully made to the specified module repository. It appears that this repository is not yet sharing any modules.” Something to do with the new 1.5 version out now?

Upgrade fails on my test installation after the initial screen with an error about GetRow() not being a member function of the db-Object… something really basic seems to be wrong here; can an incompatible object break the install that early on?
