CMSMS Places in Packt’s Overall 2007 Open Source CMS Award

November 2nd, 2007 by Ted Kulp

I’m pleased to report that CMS Made Simple won the 3rd place prize for the Overall Open Source CMS award. I must say that this is a huge honor. I was really excited that we were nominated, but never expected to place or win anything.

I just want to thank the other developers that work on this project. You guys really help keep this project going strong. And of course, thanks to the community for not only voting, but supporting us as well.

Congratulations! You deserve it. For what is still a fairly young product, you punch above your weight in terms of features; the template-based system makes you the easiest CMS to use, IMHO.

I hope this recognition makes plenty more people check you out, and helps the community of developers and users grow.

  2. Signex Says:

Congratulations! Very cool that CMSMS came in 3rd place, if you compare the userbase from Joomla & Drupal with the smaller cmsms userbase 3rd place is very good.

  3. rosgar Says:

    Congratulations! 3rd place! Yahoooo!!!

  4. Aleph Ozuas Says:

Congratulations! CMSMS is getting better each day. Keep the excellent work!!

  5. Nullig Says:

WOOHOO! Way to go. That’s quite an accomplishment, given the smaller user base. It should also help to raise the profile of CMSMS.

  6. Franklin Says:

this is great news! nothing beats the CMSMS template system, it’s just too simple!

  7. Nuno Says:

    Congratulations! Definitely you gays deserve!!
As I cmsms income to believe that this score is just the beginning of a system that will overcome all cms, given that the cmsms is much more recent than 2 first winners.

    Sorry my bad English

  8. Dan Says:

You folks are number 1 in my book. Can’t wait til v2.0

  9. Matt Says:

    Well done!

Can’t wait to watch this evolve and grow in the future.

    All the best.

  10. Israel Cefrin Says:

    It´s a great and good news !!!
I´ve tested all those 3 winners and CMSMS is the easiest template system of all.

  11. Seitenwind Says:

    Congratulations!!
I think this third place can’t be overvalued.
To become a winner beside CMS with such big communities like drupal an joomla is an indication for the quality of CMSMS. Although I think that Joomla isn’t that good but only popular…

Excitedly looking forward to CMSMS 2.0 ;-)

  12. Peter Gasston Says:

@ Nuno: I think you may be making a big assumption there! :)

  13. Patrick O'Neill Says:

Congratulations to the entire CMSMS team. I’m really impressed with how well CMSMS balances ease of use and customizability. Keep up the great work, everyone!

  14. Cyberman Says:

Many congrats to the third place (as rookie :)), Ted!

  15. Michael Erb Says:

I’m not sure why you didn’t expect to win, place or show! CMSMS is an awesome platform and will only get better. I’ve tried using Joomla and Drupal and they are so complex and much more complicated to get up and running. I think CMSMS is just fantastic and can’t wait for the improvements that are certainly to come.

  16. faglork Says:

Congrats to the developers of the best OS CMS ever!
After trying numerous cms systems, this one is it. Definitely my No. 1!

  17. Johan Sandberg Says:

Congratulations to all who have participatted in the development of CMSMS! I hope more people will be atracted to this system after this.

  18. ella Says:

    Congrats!!!
I tried Joomla and Drupal and personally think that CMSmadesimple is the best and easiest to use CMS out there!

  19. Doug Case Says:

As mentioned numerous times already in comments by others, this recognition is well deserved. I’ve tried all the other CMS systems out there and standardized with CMS Made Simple because it lives up to its name. I’ve developed 30+ sites with it and can’t imagine developing a new site without it.

My sincerest thanks to those who have and continue to develop this great software that stand outs out not just because of its features, but because unlike most the alternatives it prioritizes usability.

    Congratulations! Definitely you gays deserve!!”

    LOL

Yes, all us gays love CMS Made simple, it’s good for straights as well though!

This is really awesome news and we should flog it as hard as possible! ASAP get yourselves a banner on the home page announcing:
“In Top 3 CMS’s for 2007! ” or something to that effect.
Also very excited about the revamping of cmsms style! When is the fresh new look due? With the 2.0 release?

This gives you guys HEAPS of credit. Before, I’d say, “Yeah i use cms made simple, it’s really good.”
but now i can say “Yeah, I use cms made simple, it’s one of the top 3 content management systems for 2007! (even though it doesn’t have an ecommerce module)”

    Spread the word!

And great, $2000 for the project. I guess you could do with more donations, maybe a wikipedia style donation’s system rather than the ‘paypal donate’ hidden at the top of the screen. Is there any facility to get ads placed on your website? Say someone wanted to advertise their web design company or maybe their “Photoshop to CMSMS template” services?

I used far too many exclamation points in that last post.
    Forgive my enthusiasm.

  22. leledumbo Says:

Glad to use it, Glad to voted it and Glad to hear the outcome…
    Congrats Guys :)

  23. Stuart Steel Says:

Having just started a project using joomla, I can say with conviction that CMSMS totally deserves its award, and I only expect it to do better next year. Not only is it easier for end users (by an order of magnitude!) but for us developers the architecture and separation of function and presentation means that the modules are soooo much easier to use and transform than the joomla alternative.

I am looking forward to returning to the warm safe waters of CMSMS development!

    congratulations!

  24. Randy Covington Says:

Flat out, CMSMS is the easiest, best SEO optimized OS CMS out there. It just………….works and works and works. There is no other simpler CMS for the end user. With the ability to fine tune all page meta tags , titles and descriptions this site started popping up in the first ten SERP results on Google for several of the terms I keyed in on.

I look forward to developing mores sites with CMSMS.
