CMS Made Simple 1.1 Released!

July 14th, 2007 by Ted Kulp

Reposted from: http://forum.cmsmadesimple.org/index.php/topic,13494.0.html by calguy

We apologize for the (very severely) slipped release of 1.1, but summer, work, and our private lives have severely impacted our ability to work on CMS Made Simple and to get this release out.

This is hopefully the last release before the 2.0 series of CMS Made Simple comes out.

Many thanks go out to many people (Ted, ThomasM, SilMalarrion, Reneh, tsw, _SjG_, and others) for their help in making this a reliable release (hopefully) and in doing all of the work to get it done.

This release attacks some major points
- Efficiency
- TinyMCE is now the Default Editor for new installs
- Security
- Numerous changes to attempt to reduce the chance of xss attacks and SQL injections
- Upgrades
- New versions of Smarty and adodb_lite
- ** scriptaculous was not upgraded **
- Enhancements
- Apply/Submit/Cancel buttons are now the standard for internal pages
- A seperate syntax hilighter module can now be used for templates, stylesheets, and UDT’s.
- Ajaxy code for the apply button when editing css, templates, etc. so that the scrollbar doesn’t move (this is a big plus).
- News now supports multiple database templates and pagination

There have been many many additional under-the-scene improvements, most of them minor, but some significant. Wwe recommend that you upgrade your CMS installations to 1.1 at your earliest convenience.

I think you will find this release to be ‘a breath of fresh air’. Not like CMS Made Simple isn’t a breath of fresh air already, but, according to our standards….

Isn’t there a *diff* upgrade version?

I made the upgrade, but I have problems in the News module:

Warning: Parameter summary is not known… dropped in /var/www/fmarzocca/lib/misc.functions.php on line 1252
Warning: Parameter length is not known… dropped in /var/www/fmarzocca/lib/misc.functions.php on line 1252

  2. reneh Says:

This release is so big so its not worth a diff release.
I have not seen that error on News module other places. Maybe try to re-upload the News folder…?

  3. Signex Says:

updated 6 websites, all went well!

  4. Gert van Dijk Says:

I’ve used 1.1rc2 for the development of a site, hoping to upgrade to 1.1 when it was released. I made several modifications to modules myself and I’d rather have a diff-upgrade!

Warning: Parameter summary is not known… dropped in /var/www/fmarzocca/lib/misc.functions.php on line 1252

that bug was in the betas, it was never fixed.

I have some problems after upgrading to 1.1
I have some pages which contain only an image.

The text-field in the database contains

The images where placed with the corresponding button in FCK Editor.

The frontend works correctly but if I try to edit the page with the backend I got no image and also the source is not shown

  13. johan volkers Says:

In my previous posting some html was deleted.

The pages which only contain a IMG-tag did show up empty in FSCKEditor.

I circumvented this bug by editing these records in the table cms_content_props and embedded the IMG-tags with a P and /P-tag.

  14. cosmin Says:

It’s buggy as hell. I got index.php not found when installing. Decided to forget upgrading and upload 1.1 directly. It failed on the last step of the installation. I wasted a few good hours on it until I went back to 1.0.8 which actually worked.

  15. David Says:

All the letters: ä ö ü are not displayed correctly by the new cms version. In the previous version it worked fine. In the Menu the letters are displayed correctly. Problems with: Calendar (as far as i know it is the only module who has this problem.
